Barefoot is about good design and good design should be magical
The name Barefoot represents what is spontaneous and in touch with the earth. We stay close to nature and are inspired by the elements themselves. Barefoot is about people. It's a story of simplicity.
Barefoot products are designed in Sri Lanka. Each item is specially designed for Barefoot, and is made either by home workers or by local artists and artisans. There is no factory or production line; each worker is responsible for the quality of his final product. We teach the skills and strive for quality in our hand weavers or quilters. Our workers are not cheap substitutes for machines. That's why Barefoot products cost a little more, but last a lot longer.
We work in small workshops, most of which are located in the countryside. We bring them work rather than expecting them to spend long hours traveling.
Cotton, silk and wool yarns are dyed and woven by hand. The design team led by Barbara Sansoni also designs its own range of clothing, bags, linens and toys from its textiles.
